Future Perspectives Partners with DDQIC to Train 600 Young Nigerians
Future Perspectives (FP) in partnership with the Dunin-Deshpande Innovation Centre at Queen’s University, Canada, is set to deliver world‑class entrepreneurship training to 600 selected participants as the 2026 cohort of the Jim Leech Mastercard Foundation Fellowship – Nigeria Chapter launches in March 2026. The fellowship is an initiative of Mastercard Foundation, designed to equip young African innovators with the skills and support needed to build transformative ventures.
Since the program’s launch in 2021, the Jim Leech Mastercard Foundation Fellowship has grown into one of Africa’s most sought‑after entrepreneurship programs, now represented in 49 countries across the continent. Nigeria has consistently distinguished itself, accounting for approximately 40% of total applications since inception.
As the delivery partner for the newly established Nigerian chapter, FP is working in collaboration with the Dunin‑Deshpande Innovation Centre at Queen’s University (DDQIC) to expand the fellowship’s reach and impact across the country.
The 2026 Nigerian cohort reflects the program’s strong commitment to inclusion and national representation, bringing together participants from all six geopolitical zones, including individuals with disabilities whose diverse perspectives and innovative ideas enrich the fellowship experience.
Over the course of eight months, the program equips young African innovators with the entrepreneurial mindset and practical skills needed to build impactful ventures. Participants benefit from expert‑led training, access to financial support opportunities, and mentorship from a global network of innovators and industry leaders dedicated to helping them refine and scale their ideas.
Throughout the fellowship, FP will provide localized support to Nigerian participants and alumni through community‑building activities, engagement events, and ongoing guidance that strengthens their entrepreneurial journey.
The cohort begins with the Explore Entrepreneurship phase, running from March to May 2026. During this period, participants will engage with a curated suite of online entrepreneurship courses and complete the first 11 steps of the Disciplined Entrepreneurship framework workbook. In the months that follow, they will demonstrate their commitment by advancing through key milestones that shape, validate, and strengthen their venture concepts.
