The Government of Sierra Leone launched the 300 Days of Activism for Triple Zero as a Presidential initiative to accelerate three national commitments: zero preventable maternal deaths, zero preventable infant and child deaths, and zero-dose children.

By Day ‍150, the Government reported a 30% reduction in maternal deaths, a 14% reduction in child deaths and achievement of 79% of the zero-dose target. The early results show the value of concentrated political leadership, active delivery management and rapid attention to bottlenecks across facilities and communities. The Ministry of Health has established a National Implementation Unit within the Directorate of Reproductive and Child Health to coordinate execution, track performance and support rapid problem-solving. The next phase will require stronger and more predictable financing for facility readiness, referrals, quality of care, frontline delivery and services for hard-to-reach populations. 

Sierra Leone has established the political leadership and implementation discipline required to deliver Triple Zero. Sustaining the gains through 2028 requires a financing approach that can bring public resources, catalytic philanthropy, development finance and other suitable investments behind one set of national priorities and results.

The Government is therefore exploring a blended financing vehicle for Triple Zero. The vehicle would mobilize and align capital for clearly defined delivery priorities, while strengthening government ownership, accountability and the ability to direct resources to the facilities and communities where they are needed most.

The central aim of the event is to present Sierra Leone’s results, set out the purpose of the proposed financing vehicle and engage institutions that may participate as funders, investors, guarantors, technical partners or delivery partners. The discussion will conclude with agreed areas of interest, named focal points and a clear timetable for follow-up after UNGA.
